Bryan E. Cichy-Parker

Associate Professor and Chair of Graduate Teacher Education Programs, Pacific University

Bryan E. Cichy-Parker is Associate Professor and Chair of Graduate Teacher Education Programs in the School of Learning and Teaching at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. He holds a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota and spent more than fourteen years in K-12 special education and Spanish classrooms before moving into higher education.

His scholarship centers on functional behavior assessment, disproportionality in special education, and the meeting point of special education and multicultural education. He teaches graduate courses on critical perspectives, personal identity, and the social systems that shape schooling.

Larry C. Bryant

Special Education Scholar and Teacher Educator

Larry C. Bryant holds a PhD in Rehabilitative Psychology and Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where his doctoral committee included Gloria Ladson-Billings, Carl Grant, and Julie Mead. Across nearly two decades as a teacher educator, he has taught special education and educational leadership at the University of North Texas at Dallas, Metropolitan State University in Saint Paul, and the University of Texas at Arlington, most of them urban-serving institutions.

His scholarship examines the criminalization of Black and Brown students with disabilities, the carceral logic embedded in special education, culturally relevant pedagogy, and behavior support. His published work includes studies of the school-to-prison pipeline, race dialogues in teacher preparation, and the self-efficacy of African American adolescent boys identified with emotional and behavioral disabilities. He is a longtime member of the Council for Exceptional Children and the American Educational Research Association.
